(These policies are in addition to the school policies in the Student Handbook which all students must follow.)
1. RESPECT!! Respect your fellow classmates, and your teacher. Raise your hand if you would like to speak. Please do not disturb other students or the class. Refrain from using profanity or inappropriate language.
2. ATTENDANCE – Consistent attendance is critical to your success. Work will be permitted to be made up for unexcused absences. If you are late 3 times it is considered an absence.
3. COMMUNICATION – Please communicate with me about what is going on with you. If you are unhappy about something, please communicate with the instructor. Many problems can be easily resolved with communication. Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail ([email protected]).
4. ARRIVE ON TIME - If you are not in your seat when the tardy bell rings, you are officially late! If you are in the building and you miss an assignment due to tardiness or cutting, you will receive a “0” for the assignment. 3 lates will result in a detention.
5. REQUESTS FOR A HALL PASS - Emergencies only! • Only one student may leave the room at a time. • Limit visits to five minutes. • Abuse will result in loss of privileges.
6. DISMISSAL PROCEDURE - Remained seated at the sound of the bell until dismissed by me.
7. BE PREPARED! - Bring all materials everyday to class (pencils, sketchbook, notebook). Arriving to class prepared will positively impact your grade.
8. HAND HELD ELECTRONIC DEVICES – There is no reason to take a call during class. My policy is that if you answer your phone--it will be left at my desk for 4 weeks. (a call can easily be taken in the office, and I will let you take it there if I am asked.)
You may use your phones to play music (one earbud in ONLY)
9. COMPUTERS - computers are to be used appropriately. They will be used to create the requested documents or to search for content based on the current project. They will not be used for games or movies. If there is something that it is needed for other than what is necessary for class, permission must be given by the teacher. Do not download anything from un-reputable websites. If you are unsure, ask the teacher.
10. HOMEWORK/SKETCHBOOKS, ETC – are to be brought with you to class. Trips to lockers will not be permitted to retrieve missing items. Reminder: A project is due on the due date, during class time! No matter what google classroom has on it-the project is due during class. If it is not turned in on time, your grade will be a zero.
11. MAKE-UP WORK – It is your responsibility. Please see me immediately on the first day you are back from an EXCUSED absence to inquire about any work you missed. I will not remind you if you were absent. Please approach me in order to ensure that you receive any missed materials and assignments. Students will have the number of days they were absent in order to complete missed assignments. (i.e. If you are absent two days, then you will have two days to complete the assignment.) A “zero” will be given for all missed assignments until they are made up.
12. GENESIS – All students must obtain access to their Genesis account. Genesis will have all of your grades and assignments. Grades will be posted in Genesis no later than one week after an assignment has been submitted. Please check Genesis before asking me about your grade. After you check Genesis, it is my pleasure to answer any specific questions you may have. There should be no surprises if you check Genesis regularly.
13. ALL WORK – All assignments throughout the year which must be completed in order for you to pass the course. Failure to complete your assignments will result in a grade of “zero” for the marking period. Please note that (per district policy) all “incompletes” turn into a “failure” for the year if the “incomplete” is not rectified.
14. EXTRA CREDIT - Will only be given to students who complete every assignment given to the satisfaction of the teacher. Lazy work is unacceptable.
Extra credit assignments are given when a student has performed with satisfactory work and would like to have the possibility get a better letter grade. Extra credit assignments will be determined by the teacher.
15. NO LATE PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS - The Graphic Design Shop is run like a business. Unless you are absent, you will not receive extra time for an assignment. (see number 10 in regards to absences) Please be reminded, that this does not excuse you from getting the next projects done on time. Your late days DO NOT carry forward for any other assigned projects. There is enough time in class to do all projects. If for some reason, you need more time, I can write you a pass to come to Graphic Design BEFORE the project is due.
16. PLAGIARISM--no work shall be plagiarized. If work is taken from another, It is considered plagiarism. The school and I frown on plagiarism. You will receive a 0 and an email will be sent home to the parents.
