GRAPHIC DESIGN/COMMERCIAL ART is visual communication, and problem-solving through the use of type, space and image. Students will use various methods to combine words, symbols, and images to create a visual representation of ideas and messages. In this course students will be creative, conceptual and competent on the computer.
Computer programs that are used industry wide will be used in this course. These include Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn sketching, color theory, history of design, typography, composition, and critique techniques. There will be a variety of assignments and projects given. Students will be creating posters, book covers, magazine spreads, cd covers, logos, brands, packaging, advertisements and environmental designs to name a few.
